Whitaker continues to show versatility on gridiron

SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County sophomore athlete Grayson Whitaker continued to show his versatility on the gridiron during the 2021 high school football season.

Whitaker delivered on offense, defense and special teams for Magoffin County during the latest prep gridiron campaign.

A young high school football player with a diverse skill let, Whitaker ranked third in receiving for the Hornets. He finished fourth in rushing for Magoffin County while contributing defensively and on special teams.

A productive receiver, Whitaker hauled in 21 receptions for 352 yards and two touchdowns. Delivering in on the ground, Whitaker rushed 11 times for 80 yards and one touchdown.

Chipping in defensively for Magoffin County, Whitaker recorded eight tackles and one interception.

Providing on special teams, Whitaker returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

An experienced athlete, Gamble ranked third in receiving for Magoffin County during his freshman season. As a freshman, Gamble reeled in 10 receptions for 250 yards and four touchdowns.

Currently, Whitaker is preparing for his sophomore season with the Magoffin County boys’ basketball program. A key player for the Magoffin County boys’ basketball team, Whitaker averaged 8.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per game as a freshman.
