Williams paces Magoffin County in win over Pikeville

PIKEVILLE — Junior Jaden Williams led visiting Magoffin County over Pikeville 17-6 in a high school softball season opener on Monday, March 13.

Strong in the circle, Williams pitched a complete game. Williams allowed six runs on seven hits and one walk while recording eight strikeouts. Only two of Pikeville’s runs were earned.

Magoffin County plated 17 runs on 17 hits.

Helping her pitching cause, Williams paced Magoffin County at the plate. Williams finished 4-for-4 with five RBIs. The Magoffin County pitcher homered and drew one walk during the season opener.

Following Williams in Magoffin County’s offensive attack, Rylie Castle supplied three hits and two RBIs.

Players throughout Magoffin County’s lineup made an impact at the plate. The additional offensive contributors for Magoffin County were Kayleigh Lemaster (two hits), Katie Carty (two hits, two RBIs), Jaylynn Lafferty (two hits, two RBIs), Katie Howard (two hits, two RBIs), Abby Barnett (one hit), Kiley Lemaster (one hit, one RBI) and Makenna Jordan (one RBI).

Howard and Kayleigh Lemaster each doubled for Tony Skaggs-coached Magoffin County in the win over Pikeville.

Magoffin County was scheduled to host Lawrence County at press time on Wednesday, March 15.
