Williams’ three-hit shutout leads MC to district win

PAINTSVILLE — Jaden Williams pitched a three-hit shutout to lead visiting Magoffin County over Paintsville 7-0 in a 57th District softball game on Thursday, April 28.

Strong from start to finish, Williams earned the win in the circle. Williams pitched a complete game, limiting Paintsville to three hits while recording three strikeouts.

Laney Bledsoe took the loss in the circle for host Paintsville. Bledsoe allowed seven runs on nine hits and two walks while recording nine strikeouts.

Williams, Jaylynn Lafferty, Katie Carty and Scarlett McCarty delivered two hits apiece for Magoffin County in the shutout win.

Rounding out Magoffin County’s offensive effort, Makenna Jordan provided one hit.

Williams and Carty each collected three RBIs while McCarty drove in one run.

Helping her pitching cause at the plate, Williams homered.

Producing at the plate for Paintsville, Mattie Ratliff, Carrigan Ratliff and Molly Music provided one hit apiece.

Both Magoffin County and Paintsville are scheduled to compete in the 57th District Softball Tournament later in the month.
