SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County senior Abby Barnett is among the 15th Region’s top softball players.
Barnett received votes from multiple coaches for the Kentucky Prep Softball Preseason 15th Region Top 10 Players’ Rankings.
As a junior in the 2025 high school softball season, Barnett batted a team-high .436 with 28 runs, 34 hits, 27 RBIs, 9 doubles, 5 home runs and 14 stolen bases.
During her sophomore season in 2024, Barnett batted .407 with 18 runs, 22 hits, 23 RBIs, 5 doubles, 2 home runs and 6 stolen bases.
In addition to offensively, Barnett, a catcher, thrives defensively for the Lady Hornets.
A standout in multiple sports, Barnett led Magoffin County throughout the 2025-26 girls’ high school basketball season.
Prior to the hoops season, Barnett was among the leaders for Magoffin County throughout the 2025 high school volleyball campaign.
Barnett and her Magoffin County teammates are scheduled to visit Morgan County for a 2026 high school softball season opener on Monday, March 16.
