Hornets shut out Wildcats in three innings

FRENCHBURG — Magoffin County rolled past Menifee County 19-0 in three innings on Friday, April 10.

The 19 runs is a single game season-high for the Hornets.

Michael Trusty and Hunter Arnett combined to pitch a no-hitter for visiting Magoffin County.

Trusty started on the mound for Magoffin County and earned the win. The Magoffin County starting pitcher pitched two innings and recorded four strikeouts.

Following Trusty, Arnett pitched one inning in relief for the Hornets. Arnett struck out one Menifee County batter.

Kristian Donathan started on the mound for Menifee County and took the loss.

In addition to Donathan, Lincoln Rogers, Landon Brewer and Skylar Guess pitched for the Wildcats.

Magoffin County scored 19 runs on 10 hits. Players throughout Magoffin County’s lineup delivered offensively. Trusty (one RBI), Chance Risner (two hits, four RBIs), Brayden Bailey (two hits, four RBIs), Aden Montgomery (two hits, three RBIs), Isaac Howard (two hits, two RBIs), Brody Emory (one hit, one RBI), Aiden Carty (one hit, one RBI), Noah Gibson (one RBI) and Mason Peck (one RBI) were the offensive contributors for the Hornets. Bailey doubled twice in Magoffin County’s convincing victory. Providing another extra-base hit, Risner doubled once.

The Hornets returned to the win column after dropping back-to-back games to Letcher County Central and Lawrence County.

Magoffin County and Menifee County, longtime rivals from bordering regions, aren’t scheduled to meet again in the 2026 high school baseball season.
