SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is set to host Martin County in the first of three straight home games on Friday, Sept. 15.
The Hornets and Cardinals did not meet during the 2022 high school football season.
Magoffin County defeated Martin County convincingly in the two teams’ most recent meeting. The Hornets leveled the Cardinals 56-8 on Sept. 18, 2020.
Magoffin County (Class 3A, District 8) is 0-4. The Hornets have suffered losses to Montgomery County, Lewis County, Leslie County and Russell.
Martin County (Class 2A, District 7) is 2-2. The Cardinals have posted wins over Hazard and Paintsville. Martin County has dropped games to Pike County Central and Shelby Valley.
Magoffin County has regular season games remaining versus Martin County, Belfry, Powell County, Lawrence County, Estill County and Morgan County. Head coach John DeRossett guides the Hornets.

Magoffin County will host Martin County for its second home game in the 2023 high school football season. The Hornets and Cardinals will battle in a non-district matchup.
Kickoff for the Magoffin County-Martin County football game is set for 7:30 p.m.
