SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is set to visit defending champion Lawrence County for a Class 3A, District 8 game on Friday, Oct. 6.
Magoffin County is 2-5 overall and 1-1 in Class 3A, District 8. The Hornets have posted wins over Martin County and Powell County.
Magoffin County has dropped games to Montgomery County, Lewis County, Leslie County, Russell and Belfry.
However, Magoffin County has won two of its last three games after opening the 2023 high school football season 0-4. Magoffin County’s first two losses in the 2023 high school football season were via single digits.

Lawrence County is 4-2 overall and 1-1 in Class 3A, District 8. The Bulldogs have registered wins over Rowan County, Perry County Central, Harlan County and Estill County.
Lawrence County has suffered losses to Shelby Valley and Belfry.

Magoffin County has regular season games remaining versus Lawrence County, Estill County and Morgan County.
Lawrence County pulled away to defeat the Hornets 58-26 in the two teams’ last meeting on Sept. 16, 2022.
Kickoff for the upcoming Magoffin County-Lawrence County matchup is set for 7:30 p.m. in Louisa.
