Stacy scores nine points, records four steals in Transy’s setback

DEMOREST, Ga. – Sophomore guard Kennedi Stacy scored nine points and recorded four steals but Transylvania University was limited late as East Texas Baptist University pulled away to win 61-46 in a women’s college basketball game at Cave Arena on the campus of Piedmont College on Saturday, Nov. 7.

DEMOREST, Ga. – Sophomore guard Kennedi Stacy scored nine points and recorded four steals but Transylvania University was limited late as East Texas Baptist University pulled away to win 61-46 in a women’s college basketball game at Cave Arena on the campus of Piedmont College on Saturday, Nov. 7.

With the loss, Transylvania dropped to 0-2.

East Texas Baptist opened its season 1-0 with the win.

Transylvania managed to outrebound East Texas Baptist 54-49.

East Texas Baptist clung to a 22-19 lead at halftime. The two teams were tied 36-36 at the conclusion of the third quarter. However, East Texas Baptist finished strong, using a 25-10 run in the fourth quarter to pull away to win convincingly over the Pioneers.

In addition to providing nine points and four steals, Stacy pulled down three rebounds and dished out two assists.

Dasia Thornton led Transylvania with a double-double, scoring 10 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.

Transylvania is scheduled to host Piedmont on Friday, Nov. 20.
