SALYERSVILLE — Behind a perfect game from pitcher Jaden Williams, Magoffin County shut out Paintsville 21-0 in three innings during the semifinals of the 57th District Softball Tournament at Martin County High School on Monday, May 20.
Following the win, Magoffin County advanced to the 57th District Softball Tournament title game.
Magoffin County took control early, erupting for 16 runs in the bottom half of the first inning.
Extending its lead, Magoffin County added five runs one inning later.
Williams recorded seven strikeouts and earned the win in the circle.
Kira Ratliff started in the circle for Paintsville and suffered the loss. In addition to Ratliff, Paintsville sent Kelsey Woods, Kendra Runyon and Chessa Collins out to pitch during the district tournament game.
Magoffin County (9-9) scored 21 runs on nine hits. Williams (one hit, one RBI), Abby Barnett (two hits, four RBIs), Katie Carty (two hits, four RBIs), Kiley Lemaster (two hits, one RBI), Laney Bledsoe (one hit, two RBIs), Bella Trusty (one hit, one RBI) and Maci Minix (one RBI) each produced offensively for the Lady Hornets. Both Carty and Bledsoe doubled.
