Magoffin County drops district game to Paintsville

PAINTSVILLE — Magoffin County couldn’t work its way back into the win column as Paintsville prevailed 57-41 in a 57th District girls’ basketball game on Friday, Feb. 14.

Following the loss, Magoffin County slipped to 6-21.

Paintsville shot 35.5 percent (22-of-62) from the field. The Lady Tigers made six of 27 three-point field goal attempts.

Paintsville shot 70 percent (seven-of-10) from the free throw line.

Kylie Kinner scored a game-high 27 points for the Lady Tigers. Kinner connected on multiple shots from various parts of the court.

Joining Kinner in double figures for Paintsville, Emma Keeton netted 13 points.

Barely missing double figures, Brooklyn Skaggs scored nine points for the Lady Tigers.

Accounting for the rest of Paintsville’s scoring, Addison Helton posted six points and McKinley Ramey added two points.

Magoffin County shot 29.7 percent (11-of-37) from the field. The Lady Hornets made two of nine three-point field goal attempts.

Magoffin County shot 51.5 percent (17-of-33) from the free throw line.

Macy Williams paced Magoffin County, scoring a team-high 18 points for the Lady Hornets. Williams was the only Magoffin County scorer to reach double figures.

Nearly recording a double-double for Magoffin County, Abby Barnett scored eight points and claimed 10 rebounds.

Behind Barnett in Magoffin County’s scoring column, Emily Sluss scored seven points, Karly Jenkins netted five points and Maddie Salyer posted three points.
