Man runs from police, tased & charged with drug trafficking

Rondall Fee

RIVER ROAD – A Johnson County man was arrested after allegedly bailing from a car during a traffic stop and running from police with drug trafficking items in his pockets.

According to the arrest citation, Rondall Fee, 59, of Thelma, Kentucky, was a passenger during a traffic stop on River Road on May 7, when, as the car came to a stop, he reportedly jumped out of the vehicle and began to flee.

Magoffin County Sheriff Department Deputy Donavon Watson wrote in his police report that he instantly recognized the man running to be Rondall Fee and he knew he had an active bench warrant, so he chased him, giving multiple verbal commands to stop, according to the citation.

Fee continued to flee around a barn and attempted to remove something from his pockets and approached a wooded area when Deputy Watson deployed his taser, according to the citation.

Fee stopped in his tracks and police were able take him into custody. Police found a used syringe, approximately 11.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine, his cell phone and glasses upon an initial quick search of Fee. During the walk back to the police cruiser, Watson also found a black set of digital scales with residue in Fee’s pockets.

Police transported Fee to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where he remains at press time, facing the following charges: third-degree fleeing or evading police; first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, greater than or equal to two grams methamphetamine; and buying or possessing drug paraphernalia.

Fee has a preliminary hearing in his case set for May 19 at the Magoffin County Justice Center.
