The Magoffin County High School dance team competed at the KDCO state competition over the weekend. They were in the jazz, pom and prop categories. They were able to pull off an all-time school record of bringing home three first-place state titles.
Magoffin County High School Dance Team Coach Andrea Preston told the Independent, “We only dreamed of being able to pull off this kind of win. We have struggled all season with weather, covid and never having everyone on the floor at the same time. We pulled together these last few weeks and made our dream a reality. I couldn’t be more proud of the hard work and sacrifices these girls have made throughout this season.”
The team includes the following: Seniors – Lauryn Whitaker, Fallon Scott, Sophie Patrick, Mattie Faith Howard, Carlee Arnett; Juniors – Maggie Howard, Rylie Castle, Kara Poe, Kori Helton; Sophomores – Emma Thatcher, McKenley Eastep, Scarlett McCarty, Daylin Patrick, Brayleigh Darnell; and Freshman – Celeia Arnett.
