DAR HOSTS VIETNAM VETERANS’ DINNER

The Indian Mound Chapter NSDAR hosted the Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War at the Lloyd M. Hall Community Center Saturday, June 25th, 2022 at 5PM. Vietnam and Vietnam Era Veterans and their families were invited to attend. The event was a “Welcome Home Celebration” and dinner for area Vietnam veterans.

DAR Regent, Judy Wilds Carter as well as Magoffin County Judge Executive Matthew Wireman welcomed home for the first time, all Vietnam and Era veterans. One of the special highlights of the evening was the “Missing Man Table” ceremony performed by local DAV Member, Deanna Robinette. The missing man table, also known as a fallen comrade table, is a ceremony and memorial that is set up to honor fallen, missing or imprisoned military service members.

The DAR Chapter issued special Certificates and Presidential Lapel Pens to all Veterans present. All eligible veterans’ names were also entered for special door prizes.

Indian Mound Chapter DAR would like to thank our local DAV Chapter 15, Lee’s Famous Recipe and Farmhouse Diner for their assistance in making this a wonderful event.

Indian Mound Chapter DAR will continue to accept the names of any Vietnam Veteran who has not contacted us to date regarding a special Lapel Pen and Certificate. Please call Pam Wages at 606-349-1005 for more information.
