Dottie Lou Montgomery Collins

Dottie Lou Montgomery Collins was born on February 17, 1947, the eldest child and daughter of the late Calloway and Mollie Minix Montgomery. She passed away following an extended illness in Lexington, Kentucky on February 13, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband the late Captain Eddie Collins, her parents Calloway and Mollie Minix Montgomery, a sister Carolyn Sue Montgomery McFarland, a brother David Calloway Montgomery and one stepson Robert Kraft of Ischia, Italy.

Those left to mourn her passing are numerous relatives and friends, including her husband Nickolas J. Kraft, two children James Christopher Collins (Krista) Chantel Collins Settles (Brian) of Lexington, Kentucky, a stepchild Patti Kraft Leahy (Matt) of Charleston South Carolina, and two beloved grandchildren Megan and Joshua Collins of Winchester, Kentucky. She is also survived by her sister Linda Ann Montgomery Parker (David) of Lexington, Kentucky, brother John Phillip Montgomery (June), Salyersville, Kentucky and brother Stephen Montgomery (Jerresa) of Louisa, Kentucky.

Dottie was beloved by many friends and relatives, including nephew and nieces, Don McFarland (Waynette), Molly Jane McFarland Hoskins (Robbie) Dr. Kelli Jo Montgomery Pratt (Justin), David Neal Montgomery, Alexander Montgomery Parker, Calloway William Montgomery, Stephen Montgomery and John David Montgomery.

Also left to mourn are the spouses of Carolyn and David, Freddie McFarland and Linda Gail Howard Montgomery, Stephanie Howard Montgomery, great nieces and nephews, Alexis Montgomery Reed (Trenton), Aden Calloway Montgomery, Hannah and Maxwell McFarland, Scarlett and Tiffany Hoskins of Salyersville, Kentucky and Colin and Juliette Pratt of Paintsville, Kentucky.

Dottie was a loving faithful wife a caring mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was baptized into the Christian faith in 1978 along with her late husband, Eddie. She was an avid reader, and was sensitive to the needs of others. She will forever be remembered for her generous heart, love and reverence of nature, and her unwavering love of family.

Memorial Services for Dottie Lou Montgomery Collins will be conducted at 3:00 pm Saturday, February 25, 2023 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Charles T. Young presiding. Friends may visit the funeral home from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Saturday, February 25, 2023 prior to Memorial Services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
