Grand jury releases indictments

SALYERSVILLE – A Magoffin County grand jury released the following indictments on Thursday, September 1:

Paul Daniel Bailey, 32, of East Maple St., in Salyersville, is charged with first-degree strangulation (a Class C felony) and fourth-degree assault, minor injury (a Class A misdemeanor). According to the indictment, on or about July 13, 2022, Bailey allegedly impeded the normal breathing or circulation of blood of another person by applying pressure on the throat or neck or by blocking the nose or mouth of the other person, as well as intentionally caused minor physical injury to the other person.

Morgan P. Shaw, 38, of Paintsville, is charged with tampering with physical evidence (a Class D felony), possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor), and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/controlled substance, second offense (Class A misdemeanor). According to the indictment, on or about June 15, 2022, Shaw allegedly destroyed, concealed or altered physical evidence she believed was about to be used in an official proceeding, possessed drug paraphernalia and operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance that impaired her driving ability.

Lynville S. Hall, 41, of Goldie Road, Salyersville, is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense, methamphetamine (Class D felony); possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor); second-degree disorderly conduct (Class B misdemeanor); and menacing (Class B misdemeanor). According to the indictment, on or about May 3, 2022, Hall allegedly possessed a quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, while also engaging in threatening behavior and intentionally placed another person in reasonable apprehension of imminent physical injury.

Sonny Keeton, 37, of Middle Fork, Salyersville, is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, police officer (Class D felony); second-degree wanton endangerment (Class A misdemeanor); first-degree criminal trespassing (Class A misdemeanor); resisting arrest (Class A misdemeanor); second-degree disorderly conduct (Class B misdemeanor); menacing (Class B misdemeanor); and public intoxication of a controlled substance, excluding alcohol (Class B misdemeanor). According to the indictment, on or about August 3, 2022, Keeton allegedly engaged in conduct with created a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury of two people (one being a police officer); unlawfully remained on the premises of a police officer’s private property; resisted arrest; engaged in threatening behavior; placed another person in reasonable apprehension of imminent physical injury; and appeared in public under the influence of a controlled substance.

Arrest warrants were issued for the four defendants indicted last week.
