Litteral surpasses 1,000 passing yards

SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County senior quarterback Lucas Litteral has surpassed 1,000 passing yards in the 2021 high school football season.

Litteral reached the offensive milestone in Magoffin County’s Class 3A, District 8 win over Floyd Central on Thursday, Oct. 7. During the recent district matchup, Litteral completed 15 of 27 passes for 392 yards and two touchdowns.

Litteral is averaging 209 passing yards per game for the Hornets.

In only five games, Litteral has completed 49 of 98 passes for 1,045 yards and 10 touchdowns. Litteral leads the Chris Gamble-coached Hornets in both passing and rushing. On the ground, Litteral has rushed 59 times for 272 yards and six touchdowns through his first five games in the 2021 high school football season.

Currently, Litteral ranks second in scoring for the Hornets. Literal has scored 40 points in five games.

During the 2020 high school football season, Literal completed 89 of 176 passes for 1,449 yards and 18 touchdowns. Ranking as Magoffin County’s top passer and rusher in 2020, Litteral rushed 44 times for 207 yards and three touchdowns.

A longtime leader for Magoffin County, Litteral is among the most underrated high school quarterbacks in the state for a second straight season.

Litteral will have an opportunity to continue his aerial assault when Magoffin County hosts Pike County Central for a Class 3A, District 8 game on Friday, Oct. 15.
