Local man arrested on trafficking indictment

SALYERSVILLE – A Magoffin County grand jury indictment was released last week after the defendant arrested on an indictment warrant issued last May.

Robert W. Miller, 37, of Salyersville, was arrested by Kentucky State Police on Thursday, January 23, on charges handed down by a grand jury on May 16, 2024.

In two separate indictments issued the same day, Miller was charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon (Class C felony), first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine (Class C felony); and first-degree fleeing and evading police, first degree, on foot (Class D felony).

According to the indictment, on or about February 6, 2022, Miller allegedly possessed, manufactured or transported a handgun when he had previously been convicted of a felony, manufactured, distributed, dispensed, sold, transferred, or possessed with the intent to manufacture, distribute or sell a quantity of methamphetamine, and wantonly disobeyed a direction to stop, given by a person recognized to be a peace officer.

At press time, Miller continues to be held at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. He is scheduled to be arraigned on February 6, 2025.

Editor’s Note: The indictment or charge of a person by a grand jury or otherwise is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
