Magoffin County to host Greenup County

SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is slated to host Greenup County for its second game in the 2023-24 girls’ high school basketball season on Friday, Dec. 1.

Foes from bordering regions, Magoffin County and Greenup County did not meet during the 2022-23 girls’ high school basketball season.

Under the direction of Coach Justin Williams, Magoffin County will entertain its second visiting team in the latest prep hoops campaign.

Magoffin County is 0-1 after dropping its season opener. Prestonsburg pulled away to defeat Magoffin County 69-49 in a 2023-24 girls’ high school basketball season opener on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

Showing improvement, Magoffin County compiled a 10-19 record in the 2022-23 girls’ high school basketball season.

Greenup County is 0-1 after losing its 2023-24 season opener to South Point (Ohio). Winning a low-scoring girls’ high school basketball matchup, South Point pushed past Greenup County 38-22 on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

Greenup County put together a 15-13 record in the 2022-23 season girls’ high school basketball season. Kacey Carver is guiding Greenup County in her first season as head coach. Carver replaced Paul Miller on Greenup County’s bench.

Magoffin County is scheduled to visit Greenup County for a game in the second half of the 2023-24 girls’ high school basketball season on Jan. 25, 2024.

Tip-off for the upcoming Magoffin County-Greenup County girls’ basketball game is set for 7:30 p.m.
