SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is set to visit Greenup County for its next game in the 2023-24 girls’ high school basketball season on Thursday, Jan. 25.
The Lady Hornets will be looking to halt a losing skid that’s at eight games on the road in the bordering 16th Region.
Magoffin County and Greenup County met earlier in the season. Greenup County managed to defeat Magoffin County 31-23 on Friday, Dec. 1.
Magoffin County is 1-16. The Lady Hornets notched a win over Buckhorn on Thursday, Dec. 21. Magoffin County has suffered losses to Greenup County, Prestonsburg, Shelby Valley, Pike County Central, Martin County, Phelps, Johnson Central, Clay County, Leslie County, Nicholas County, Raceland, East Carter and Lawrence County. Both Pike County Central and Johnson Central have posted a pair of wins over the Lady Hornets.
At press time, Greenup County was 5-12. The Lady Musketeers had registered wins over Magoffin County, West Carter, Tolsia (W.Va.), Ironton (Ohio) and Lewis County. Greenup County had suffered losses to South Point (Ohio), Rowan County, Elliott County, East Carter, Estill County, Montgomery County, Bryan Station, Hazard, Chesapeake (Ohio), Lewis County and Russell. East Carter has dealt Greenup County two losses.
Greenup County was visiting Raceland at press time on Wednesday, Jan. 24.
Magoffin County has other regular season games remaining versus East Ridge, Martin County, Wolfe County, Floyd Central, Paintsville, Prestonsburg, Phelps and Shelby Valley.
Tip-off for the Magoffin County-Greenup County girls’ basketball game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
