SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County opened the week with back-to-back wins, knocking off 15th Region rival Shelby Valley and rolling past Fairview.
Rejuvenated Magoffin County notched both of the wins away from its home floor.
The Hornets, under the direction of head coach Scott Castle, upended former state champion Shelby Valley 72-67 on Monday, Jan. 25.
Remaining in the win column one day later, Magoffin County rolled past Fairview 66-35 on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
After claiming the win over Fairview, Magoffin County moved to 4-3.
Due to COVID, Magoffin County was sidelined throughout the third week of the 2020-21 boys’ high school basketball season.
The Hornets are scheduled to visit Martin County for a key 57th District game on Thursday, Jan. 28. Tip-off for the Magoffin County-Martin County boys’ basketball game is slated for 7:30 p.m.
The Hornets are scheduled to host Martin County for a 57th District game on February 13.
Magoffin County has additional regular season games remaining versus Letcher County Central, Prestonsburg, Morgan County, Johnson Central, Paintsville, Shelby Valley, Perry County Central, Pikeville, East Ridge, Floyd Central and Lawrence County.
