Sammons signs with Pikeville

SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County High School senior guard Noah Sammons signed with the University of Pikeville men’s basketball program during a ceremony held in the MCHS Library on Monday, May 20.

Sammons was a key player for Magoffin County throughout the 2023-24 boys’ high school basketball season. He helped Magoffin County capture its first 15th Region boys’ basketball title. As a senior, Sammons emerged as Magoffin County’s sixth man. Reliable and consistent, Sammons contributed to several statistical categories regularly for the Hornets.

Head coach Tigh Compton guides the University of Pikeville men’s basketball program, which competes in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC). The Bears compiled a 23-8 record in the 2023-24 men’s college basketball season. UPIKE has advanced to the NAIA Men’s Basketball National Tournament in back-to-back seasons.
