SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County is accepting applications for the position of head football coach until Monday, Dec. 6.
Chris Gamble stepped away from his post as Magoffin County football head coach earlier in the month. Gamble guided Magoffin County to a 6-4 record in his final season as head coach. The Hornets advanced to the 2021 Class 3A Playoffs.
Under the direction of Gamble, Magoffin County registered wins over Prestonsburg, Knott County Central, Bellevue, Floyd Central, Pike County Central and Morgan County during the 2021 high school football season. The Hornets dropped a pair of games to Lawrence County while suffering additional losses to perennial Class 3A title contender Belfry and Clay County in the 2021 gridiron campaign.
In 10 games during its latest season, Magoffin County amassed 3,129 yards and scored 39 touchdowns.
Magoffin County competes with Belfry, Lawrence County, Pike County Central and Floyd Central in Class 3A, District 8.
