SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County split a high school baseball doubleheader with visiting Elliott County on Thursday, May 5.

Magoffin County 5, Elliott County 1: Alex Hibbins pitched Magoffin County past Elliott County 5-1 in five innings in a game played as part of a high school baseball doubleheader on Thursday, May 5.
Hibbins earned the win on the mound, holding Elliott County to one run on two hits and two walks while registering six strikeouts.
Elliott County pitcher Isaac Stephens took the loss on the mound.
Magoffin County scored five runs on six hits. Kaden Litteral, Colin Litteral, Shawn Salyer, Ethan Salyer, Lucas Litteral and Ian McCarty provided one hit apiece for the Hornets in the victory.
Moving runners around the bases, Lucas Litteral drove in three of Magoffin County’s five runs.
Aiding Magoffin County at the plate, Colin Litteral drove in one run as the Hornets prevailed.
Elliott County 6, Magoffin County 4: Magoffin County fell short as Elliott County prevailed 6-4 in five innings in a game played as part of a high school baseball doubleheader on Thursday, May 5.
Caleb McDaniels earned the win on the mound for the Lions. McDaniels allowed four runs on four hits and three walks while recording 11 strikeouts over five innings.
Pitching in relief for the Hornets, Connor Blanton took the loss.
Isaac Stephens and Nathaniel Buckner supplied two hits apiece for the Lions. Stephens provided two RBIs while Buckner and Corbin Craft each drove in one run.
Craft and Aaron Adams added one hit each for the Lions.
Lucas Litteral and Ethan Salyer delivered two hits apiece for the Hornets.
Helping to advance runners, Litteral and Shawn Salyer each drove in one run for homestanding Magoffin County.
