RACELAND — Continuing to make strides over the high school football offseason, Magoffin County excelled in the Raceland Weightlifting Meet on Saturday, March 3.
The Hornets are getting stronger in the offseason.
“All of our guys hit personal bests,” Magoffin County Coach John DeRossett commented, following the weightlifting meet. “Our heavyweights were really competitive. They all placed in top 5-10 places against some very good competition.
“Mason Nellipowitz hit six plates on the squat and that is really breaking through in all areas of his development. Kevin Garcia won the bench and squat in his class with lifts of 200 and 260. That’s good for the 135 class. Also, Caleb Perkins hit 460 in squat and Grady Cole hit 405.”
The Hornets resumed offseason workouts at the start of the week. Magoffin County will continue to conduct workouts throughout the offseason.
