SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is set to host Belfry for its Class 3A, District 8 opener on Friday. Sept. 22.
The Hornets are 1-4. Magoffin County edged Martin County 16-14 for its first win in the 2023 high school football season on Friday, Sept. 15. The Hornets have dropped games to Montgomery County, Lewis County, Leslie County and Russell. Magoffin County suffered single digit losses in each of its first two games.
The Pirates are 2-3. Belfry has posted wins over Breathitt County and Johnson Central. The Pirates have dropped games to George Rogers Clark, Southwestern and Pikeville.
Magoffin County has regular season games remaining versus Belfry, Powell County, Lawrence County, Estill County and Morgan County.
Following the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s latest football realignment, which was finalized earlier in the year, Class 3A, District 8 is comprised of Magoffin County, Belfry,
Powell County, Lawrence County and Estill County.
Kickoff for the Magoffin County-Belfry game is set for 7:30 p.m.
