Lady Hornets defeat Fairview

RACELAND — Magoffin County pulled away to defeat Fairview 60-32 in the second round of the Ryan Keeton eXp Realty Ohio River Classic at Raceland on Friday, Dec. 27.

Following the win, Magoffin County improved to 3-7.

Former 15th Region champion Magoffin County used a balanced offensive attack to notch the win over Fairview.

Magoffin County shot 48.1 percent (26-of-54) from the field. The Lady Hornets connected on one of 12 three-point field goal attempts.

Magoffin County made seven of 16 foul shots.

Emily Sluss scored a game-high 15 points for the Lady Hornets.

Sluss made six of seven two-point field goal attempts.

Accompanying Sluss in double figures for Magoffin County, Bella Trusty netted 13 points and Abby Barnett scored 12 points.

Contributing to the win, Jerrica Reed (eight points), Macy Williams (six points), Abigail Bradley (four points) and Maddie Salyer (two points) provided Magoffin County’s additional scoring.

Williams thrived inside for Magoffin County, clearing out 10 rebounds.

Emma Pierce paced Fairview, scoring 12 points for the Lady Eagles.

Delivering a double-double for Fairview, Madison Loving scored 10 points and claimed 10 rebounds.

The other scorers for Fairview were Paige VanBibber (four points), Madison Caskey (three points) and Kylie Parks (three points).
