Lady Hornets shut out Phelps

SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County shut out Phelps 15-0 in three innings on Tuesday, April 21.

The Lady Hornets won for the third time in four games. Magoffin County improved to 7-3 after registering the win.

Excelling offensively, Magoffin County has reached double digits in the run column in seven of its 10 games.

Ava Hensley pitched a one-hit shutout for Magoffin County and earned the win in the circle. Hensley recorded four strikeouts.

Magoffin County plated 15 runs on 11 hits. Players throughout Magoffin County’s lineup delivered at the plate. Karissa Keeton (two hits, three RBIs), Abby Barnett (two hits, three RBIs), Kelsey Slone (two hits, one RBI), Jaycie Wells (two hits, one RBI), Ellie Allen (one hit, one RBI), Paityn Risner (one hit) and Kiley Lemaster (one hit) each thrived in Magoffin County’s offensive attack. Pacing the home team on the base paths, Bella Trusty scored a game-high three runs for the Lady Hornets.

Magoffin County is scheduled to host Betsy Layne for its next game at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 23.
