INEZ — Magoffin County defeated Martin County 16-11 in a high-scoring 57th District softball game on Wednesday, April 19.
Jaden Williams claimed the win in the circle for the Lady Hornets. Williams allowed only two earned runs on 10 hits while recording nine strikeouts.
Martin County pitcher Savannah Young suffered the loss in the circle.
Magoffin County excelled offensively, scoring 16 runs on 22 hits. Williams (two RBIs) and Abby Barnett (three RBIs) each delivered five hits for Magoffin County in its winning effort.
Players from throughout Magoffin County’s lineup produced at the plate. Makenna Jordan (three hits, two RBIs), Kayleigh Lemaster (three hits, one RBI), Rylie Castle (two hits, two RBIs), Katie Howard (two hits), Jaylynn Lafferty (one hit, two RBIs) and Katie Carty (one hit, two RBIs) each contributed at the plate for visiting Magoffin County.
Providing a lift at the plate for Martin County, Bella Muncy and Kaylee Endicott connected for three hits apiece.
Magoffin County is scheduled to host Martin County on Monday, May 1.
