Magoffin County concludes successful campaign

SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County made a return to the 15th Region Softball Tournament at the start of the week.
Former champion Magoffin County competed in the 15th Region Softball Tournament at StoneCrest on Monday, May 27.

Magoffin County, under the direction of Coach Tony Skaggs, finished runner-up in the 57th District.

Following a loss to Belfry in the opening round of the 15th Region Softball Tournament, Magoffin County exited the 2024 season 9-11.

The Lady Hornets scored 145 runs in the 2024 season.
As a part of a balanced effort in the 2024 season, Magoffin County allowed 145 runs.

Jaden Williams led Magoffin County offensively, batting .571 with 32 hits, four home runs, six doubles, one triple and 22 RBIs.

Following Willams in Magoffin County’s offensive attack, Abby Barnett batted .407 while Laney Bledsoe hit .400.
Additional key hitters for Magoffin County in the 2024 season included Kiley Lemaster, Kayleigh Lemaster and Bella Trusty.

Other players who contributed offensively for Magoffin County in the 2024 season were Katie Carty, Jayda Miller, Ava Hensley, Daylin Patrick, Macy Williams, Mylee Voll, Maci Minix, Maddie Salyer and Alexandria Allen.

Williams and Bledsoe split time in the circle for the Lady Hornets. An Alice Lloyd College signee, Williams finished 6-6 with a 3.32 ERA and 76 strikeouts. Bledsoe finished 3-5 with a 4.60 ERA and 60 strikeouts.

After opening the 2024 season 0-6, Magoffin County won nine of its last 14 games.
