TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Fifth-year senior guard Kennedi Stacy led Transylvania University to its 48th straight win on Saturday, Jan. 13.
Stacy, a Magoffin County High School graduate, scored 22 points to pace Transylvania in a win over Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) opponent Rose-Hulman.
Transylvania defeated Rose-Hulman 56-42.
Following the win, Transylvania moved to 15-0 overall and 8-0 in the HCAC.
With the win, Transylvania passed UConn’s 47-game winning streak, which was set in the 2013-2015 seasons. The Pioneers entered the week one game away from tying North Dakota State’s 49-game winning streak set in the 1994-1995 seasons.
Stacy helped to lead Transylvania to the 2022-23 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball National Championship. She was named the 2022-23 HCAC Defensive Player of the Year.
In addition, Stacy was named to the All-HCAC First Team. Stacy led Transylvania in both three-point field goals made (56) and steals (86) in the 2022-23 women’s college basketball season. The Magoffin County High School graduate averaged 13.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game for Transylvania in its national championship-winning campaign.
One of Magoffin County High School’s top all-time student-athletes, Stacy started all 33 games for Transylvania in the 2022-23 women’s college basketball season.
Transylvania was set to visit Mount St. Joseph for another conference game at press time on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
