BURNING FORK – The Salyersville Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Monday morning on Burning Fork.
Just before 7 a.m., a call from a neighbor came into 911, resulting in fire crews being called out to a singlewide mobile home on Kelly Branch on Burning Fork. The residence was completely engulfed by the time first responders arrived. The Salyersville Fire Department responded and was able to confirm that the resident was already gone to work when the fire started.
While no injuries were reported, three pets were lost in the fire.
Salyersville Fire Chief Paul Howard told Mortimer Media Group the home was a total loss, as were all of its contents.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help the resident, identified as Corrinna Bailey, and her daughter, Aliyah Dunn, who was at college at the time of the fire. The GoFundMe page indicates that their most urgent needs are “support to cover immediate expenses, like clothing, furniture, deposits, utility hook-up fees, and all the essentials needed to secure a new place to live.”
