GRAYSON – Magoffin County High School graduate Holly Handshoe is preparing to take the field in her first season as a lefthanded pitcher for the Kentucky Christian University softball team.
Handshoe helped to lead Magoffin County throughout the 2021 high school softball season, pitching in 16 games. An experienced pitcher, Handshoe compiled a 6-7 record while recording 80 strikeouts as a high school senior.
Delivering in the circle and at plate for Magoffin County during the 2021 high school softball season, Handshoe batted .468. She recorded 37 hits, 26 runs batted in, 10 doubles and three home runs.
The Knights are scheduled to open the 2022 college softball season in early-February. KCU is slated to face Concordia University in the NAIA Leadoff Tournament in Rosemont, Illinois on Saturday, Feb. 4.
The Kentucky Christian softball team’s roster features in-state products as well as student-athletes from Arizona, California, Florida, Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia.
