HOUSE FIRE ON BURNING FORK

Magoffin County 911 received a call at approximately 1 p.m. on January 13 of a structure fire on KY Rt. 1888 (Burning Fork) right before Birch Branch. When crews arrived, the residence was fully engulfed. Officials tell the Independent that all attempts were made to extinguish the fire, including calling for mutual aid for tankers and extra water from several other departments, but the house was believed to be a total loss. No one was in the home when the fire started. The fire is still under investigation by the Salyersville Fire Department.

The home has been identified as belonging to Gaylean and Ron Back, and their daughter-in-law, Sabrina Back, posted on Facebook Wednesday afternoon that the couple had lost everything in the fire.
