John Ernest Carpenter age 84 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Friday, March 05, 2021 from the Eastern Kentucky Veteran’s Center in Hazard, Kentucky. He was born August 10, 1936 in Oil Springs, Kentucky to the late Ernest and Anna Bell Conley Carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Selma Ruth Arnett Carpenter, two sons, Kenneth Bruce Carpenter of Salyersville, Kentucky, David Morgan Carpenter of Pensacola, Florida, one daughter, Jonna Ruth Carpenter of Salyersville, Kentucky, one brother, Leonard F. Carpenter of Wooster, Ohio, four grandchildren, Kendra Dee Terante, Kayla Maxine Carpenter, Kelly Nichole Carpenter, John Morgan Carpenter, four great grandchildren, Bentley Morgan Carpenter, Maley Carpenter, Rory Terante, and Tatum Carpenter.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Kathern Carpenter Blanton, Martha Kay Carpenter Conley, and Sarah Louise Carpenter.
John proudly served the United States Air Force for over twenty years and was a member of the Salyersville First Baptist Church.
A graveside service was conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 09, 2021 from the Bluegrass Cemetery in Salyersville, Kentucky with Ben Martin, and Joe Carroll officiating.
Military Rites were given by the Salyersville D.A.V. Chapter 15 the day of service.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
