Lady Hornets upend Jackson City

JACKSON — Notching its second 15-run win in 24 hours, Magoffin County defeated Jackson City 19-4 in five innings on Thursday, April 9.

Magoffin County and Jackson City are familiar foes from bordering regions.

A pair of seventh grade pitchers pitched for the Lady Hornets.

Karissa Keeton started in the circle for Magoffin County and earned the win. Keeton pitched two innings and struck out two Jackson City batters.

Following Keeton, Addison Schlick pitched three innings in relief for the Lady Hornets. Schlick recorded five strikeouts.

Magoffin County scored 19 runs on nine hits. Schlick (one hit, one RBI), Finley Rudd (one hit, two RBIs), Macy Williams (one hit, one RBI), Maci Minix (one hit, one RBI), Abby Barnett (one hit, one RBI), Kailyn Arnett (one hit, one RBI), Kelsey Slone (one hit), Jaycie Wells (one hit), Bella Trusty (one hit) and Kiley Lemaster (one RBI) delivered offensively in Magoffin County’s 15-run win. Displaying power at the plate, Barnett belted her second home run in the 2026 high school softball season. Providing additional extra-base hits, Williams, Slone and Trusty each doubled.

Magoffin County is scheduled to host Jackson City for another game on Friday, April 17.
