Paintsville holds off Magoffin County

PAINTSVILLE — Paintsville held on to defeat Magoffin County 6-4 in a 57th District game on Monday, April 13.

Magoffin County visited Paintsville for a 57th District opener.

As a result of the loss, Magoffin County dropped to 4-2 overall.

Kira Ratliff pitched for Paintsville and earned the win in the circle. Ratliff recorded 14 strikeouts.

Addison Schlick pitched for Magoffin County and suffered the loss in the circle. Schlick recorded eight strikeouts.

Paintsville scored six runs on eight hits. The top offensive contributors for Paintsville were Maggie Music (two hits, two RBIs), Kendall Short (two hits), Nataleigh Webb (two hits), Bentley Smith (one hit, one RBI) and Brooke Howard (one hit). Music, who drove in two of Paintsville’s six runs, doubled.

Magoffin County plated four runs on four hits. Kelsey Slone (two hits), Bella Trusty (one hit, one RBI), Macy Williams (one hit) and Kailyn Arnett (one RBI) supplied Magoffin County’s offense. Displaying speed on the base paths, Williams tripled.

Magoffin County is scheduled to host Paintsville for another 57th District game on Monday, April 20.
