SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County shut out rival Morgan County 15-0 in three innings on Wednesday, April 8.
The Lady Hornets turned in a dominant performance, controlling the game.
Addison Schlick pitched a four-hit shutout for Magoffin County and earned the win in the circle. Schlick recorded five strikeouts. The Magoffin County pitcher threw only 57 pitches.
Bralyne Carpenter pitched for Morgan County and absorbed the loss. Carpenter struck out one Magoffin County batter.
Magoffin County scored 15 runs on eight hits. Schlick (one hit), Kelsey Slone (two hits, two RBIs), Maci Minix (one hit, one RBI), Bella Trusty (one hit, one RBI), Kailyn Arnett (one hit, one RBI), Kiley Lemaster (one hit) and Abby Barnett (one hit) each produced at the plate for Magoffin County in its shutout win. Slone doubled and homered. Along with Slone, Minix, Arnett and Lemaster each doubled.
Chloe Dye (two hits), Carly Dye (one hit) and Haisley Purvis (one hit) each chipped in offensively for the Lady Cougars.
Magoffin County and Morgan County aren’t scheduled to meet again in the 2026 high school softball season.
