SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County is scheduled to visit Knott County Central in the second week of the 2021 high school football season on Friday, Sept. 3.
The Hornets are 1-0 after knocking off Prestonsburg 34-6 in a season opener on Friday, Aug. 27.
Senior quarterback Lucas Litteral amassed over 300 yards of total in the Hornets’ win over Prestonsburg, passing for two touchdowns and rushing for another TD.
Knott County Central is 1-0 after outlasting homestanding Bath County 38-33 in a season opener on Friday, Aug. 27.
Quarterback Kizer Slone, one of the most improved high school football players in Eastern Kentucky, led Knott County Central to the win over Bath County, completing 25 or 37 passes for 475 yards and four touchdowns.
Ethan Combs led the Patriots in receiving, reeling in nine receptions for 259 yards and two touchdowns.
In addition to Combs, Landon Smith hauled in eight receptions for 154 yards and two touchdowns for the Patriots.
The Hornets and Patriots did not meet during the 2020 high school football season.
Magoffin County has regular season games remaining versus Knott County Central, Bellevue, Lawrence County, Belfry, Floyd Central, Pike County Central, Clay County and Morgan County.
Kickoff for the Magoffin County-Knott County Central football game is set for 7:30 p.m. in Hindman.
