SALYERSVILLE – Returning to the win column, Magoffin County shut out the Piarist School, a 15th Region rival, 3-0 in a high school volleyball match on Thursday, Sept. 30,
Magoffin County and Piarist School faced off in a non-district match.
The win allowed the Hornets to halt a three-match losing skid.
Magoffin County won 25-10, 25-16, 25-14 over Piarist School in the non-district match.
Maddie Auxier (2 kills, 11 assists, 11 digs, 3 service aces), Macie Arnett (7 kills, 2 blocks 11 digs, 4 service aces), Lauryn Whitaker (8 kills, 1 block, 2 assists, 17 digs, 8 service aces), Sophia Patrick (6 kills, 5 assists, 9 digs, 2 service aces), Nora Howard (4 kills, 2 assists, 7 digs, 4 service aces) and Mackenzie Bailey (1 assist, 13 digs, 5 service aces) contributed for Magoffin County in the shutout win.
Magoffin County and the Piarist School met for the first time in the 2021 high school volleyball season.
The Hornet are scheduled to visit the Piarist School for another non-district match on Tuesday, Oct. 12.
