Lady Hornets push past Morgan County, 5-2

SALYERSVILLE — Remaining in the win column, Magoffin County pushed past visiting Morgan County 5-2 in a high school softball game on Monday, April 4.

Jaden Williams earned the win in the circle for the Lady Hornets. Williams allowed two runs on seven hits and one walk while registering seven strikeouts in seven innings.

Jaylynn Lafferty led Magoffin County at the plate, finishing 3-for-4.

Following Laferty’s performance at the plate, Scarlett McCarty, Rylie Castle, Ashlyn Patrick and Katie Howard produced two hits apiece for the Lady Hornets.

Contributing to Magoffin County’s win, Makenna Jordan and Kaitlyn Roberts added one hit apiece.

Patrick provided two RBIs while Lafferty, McCarty and Jordan drove in one run apiece.

Both Lafferty and Patrick doubled.

Magoffin County notched a win over Morgan County for the second time in the 2022 high school softball season. The Lady Hornets pulled away to defeat Morgan County 13-3 in a season opener on Tuesday, March 15.

Morgan County slipped back into the loss column after defeating Elliott County 13-10 on Thursday, March 31.

Magoffin County was slated to visit Pike County Central another game at press time on Wednesday, April 6.
