SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County High School student-athletes Colton Vallandingham, Zane Whitaker and Makinna Caudill are preparing to compete in the KHSAA State Tennis Championships.
The KHSAA State Tennis Championships will be held in Lexington at the University of Kentucky May 30-June 1.
The Magoffin County trio excelled in the 15th Region Tennis Tournament, which Lawrence County hosted earlier in the month. The 15th Region includes members Magoffin County, Lawrence County, Belfry, Johnson Central, Martin County, Paintsville, Pike County Central, Pikeville and Shelby Valley.
Vallandingham and Whitaker are set to compete in the KHSAA State Tennis Championships as a boys’ doubles team. The duo from Magoffin County reached the semifinals of the 15th Region Tennis Tournament.
Caudill is set to compete in the state tournament as a girls’ singles player. Caudill finished runner-up in the 15th Region girls’ tennis singles title match.
Lawrence County claimed the 15th Region boys’ and girls’ tennis team titles.
