MIDDLE FORK – A Magoffin man was arrested on Monday for allegedly trespassing, stealing security cameras and shutting power off of a home on Middle Fork.
According to the arrest warrant, Magoffin County Sheriff Deputy Eugene Salyer was dispatched to a location on Middle Fork regarding a trespass/burglary complaint, with video surveillance showing Aaron Arnett, 18, of Middle Fork Road, on the property on April 18. The property owner reportedly told police that her mother had been living at the property and having issues with Arnett, who had been told not to be on the property.
Deputy Salyer received a call from the property owner on April 20, stating Arnett was on the property, again, and he had allegedly broken into the home, took her security cameras and shut off the main power from the outside of the home, according to the warrant.
When Salyer arrived to the home, the main and back doors of the home were opened and the homeowner told police both doors were locked when she left the residence several days prior. Later that same day, the property owner called 911 and the call was relayed to Salyer, with the property owner stating Arnett had come to her while she was at the property, brought the cameras back that he had taken, asking her to not press charges.
Arnett was picked up shortly after, and taken to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where he remains at press time, facing the charges of third-degree criminal trespassing and second-degree burglary.
