PIKEVILLE — Magoffin County High School graduate Aden Barnett is among six University of Pikeville men’s basketball players who have been named to the Fall 2024 UPike Dean’s List.
Barnett is a longtime standout student-athlete. A freshman at the University of Pikeville, Barnett excels both athletically and academically.
Barnett was honored as the 2023-24 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year and received numerous All-State honors.
Making history for Magoffin County, Barnett led the Hornets to the 2023-24 15th Region boys’ basketball title. The all-time leading scorer for Magoffin County, Barnett averaged 28.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game during his senior campaign. As a senior, Barnett scored 977 points and claimed 191 rebounds.
Barnett, who has excelled in multiple sports throughout his prep career, shot 82.8 percent from the free throw line in the 2023-24 boys’ high school basketball season.
One of the state’s top student-athletes, Barnett led Magoffin County to the second round of the KHSAA Boys’ Sweet 16.
Magoffin County, under the direction of Coach Scott Castle, compiled a 22-14 record in the 2023-24 boys’ high school basketball season.
Along with Barnett, Jace Copley, Keynan Cutlip, Noel Kintz, Connor Lane and Keian Worrix represented the University of Pikeville men’s basketball program on the UPike Dean’s List.
