SALYERSVILLE – Determined Magoffin County held on to edge visiting Morgan County 28-26 in a high school football regular season finale on Friday, Nov. 5.
After claiming the win, Magoffin County improved tp 6-3.
Senior quarterback Lucas Litteral scored four touchdowns to lead Magoffin County to the win.
Through the air, Litteral completed 13 passes for 151 yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Litteral rushed 22 times for 73 yards and three touchdowns.
The Hornets rushed 30 times for 116 yards in the victory.
Curtis Jenkins (17 tackles), Brayden Standifer (14 tackles), Ian McCarty (13 tackles) and Kajun Williams (12 tackles) combined to lead Magoffin County’s defensive effort.
Morgan County rushed 32 times for 247 yards and three touchdowns in the regular season finale. Leading the Cougars, Jordan Sexton rushed 23 times for 117 yards and one touchdown.
Completing a scoring strike through the air for Morgan County, Sexton connected with Jacob Nickell on a 72-yard touchdown pass.
Contributing to the Cougars’ offensive attack, Darrin Hollon and Drew Lindon added one touchdown apiece.
Hollon paced the Cougars defensively, recording nine tackles.
Magoffin County is scheduled to visit Lawrence County for the opening round of the Class 3A Playoffs on Friday, Nov. 5.
