INEZ – Continuing to win, visiting Magoffin County shut out Martin County 12-0 in five innings in a 57th District baseball game on Wednesday, May 5.
Longtime rivals, Magoffin County and Martin County met for the first time in the 2021 high school baseball season.
Lucas Litteral pitched a one-hit shutout to lead Magoffin County to the district win. Strong from start to finish during the district baseball game, Litteral recorded a dozen strikeouts over five innings on his way to claiming the win on the mound.
The Hornets moved ahead early during the district game and never faltered. Magoffin County recorded a dozen hits.
Colin Litteral (1-for-2, two RBIs), Lucas Litteral (1-for-4, one RBI), Trenton Coleman (3-for-3), Ethan Salyer (2-for-5), Ian Prewitt (2-for-2, four RBIs), Kaden Back (1-for-4, one RBI), Caleb Howard (1-for-3, one RBI) and Caleb Wilson (1-for-3, one RBI) contributed at the plate for the Hornets.
Both Prewitt and Howard doubled in Magoffin County’s victory.
The Hornets blanked Martin County in the first of back-to-back district games between the two high school baseball teams.
