JACKSON – Magoffin County dropped a second straight game on the road as Breathitt County pulled away to win 52-35 in a girls’ high school basketball game on Monday, Jan. 18.
With the loss, Magoffin County dropped to 2-3.
Breathitt County improved to 4-2 with the win.
A member of the 14th Region (55th District), Breathitt County shot 40.4 percent (21-of-52) from the field. The Lady Cats were 2-of-13 from 3-point range.
Breathitt County shot 42.1 percent (8-of-19) from the free throw line.
Riley Bush paced Breathitt County with a game-high 18 points. Bush was 8-of-15 from inside the arc. She was the only Breathitt County player to reach double figures.
Kaylee Clemons (eight points), Maddie Haddix (seven points), Adreonna Schutz (seven points), Brenley Gross (six points), Naoma Noble (three points), Jerrica Neace (two points) and Kaylea Ritchie (one point) accompanied Bush in the Breathitt County scoring column.
Haddix and Ritchie paced Breathitt County inside, claiming seven rebounds apiece.
Magoffin County finished 10-of-46 from the field. The Lady Hornets were 1-of-17 from 3-point range.
Magoffin County managed to shot 53.8 percent (14-of-26) from the free throw line.
Angel Mullis paced Magoffin County with a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
Following Mullis in scoring, Karah Lafferty and Haley Barnett added eight points apiece for the Lady Hornets.
Rounding out Magoffin County’s individual scoring, Stephanie Helton chipped in three points while Abby Barnett and Jaylen McCarty posted one point apiece.
