SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County senior quarterback Lucas Litteral is on pace to pass for over 1,000 yards in the 2021 high school football season.
In four games, Litteral has completed 34 of 71 passes for 653 yards and eight touchdowns. Litteral has thrown six interceptions.
A dual-threat quarterback, Literal leads Magoffin County in both passing and rushing. Pacing Magoffin County on the ground, Litteral has rushed 45 times for 219 yards and two touchdowns.
Four different Magoffin County players have completed at least one pass in the 2021 high school football season. Sophomore athlete Aden Barnett has completed a 62-yard touchdown pass for the Hornets.
Chris Gamble-coached Magoffin County used a balanced offensive attack to compile a 3-2 record in the first half of the 2021 high school football season.
On the ground, Magoffin County has rushed 137 times for 625 yards and nine touchdowns.
Ranking as the Hornets’ second-leading rusher, Barnett has rushed 18 times for 204 yards and five touchdowns.
Contributing on the ground for Magoffin County, Ben Lafferty and Grayson Whitaker have rushed for one touchdown apiece.
Barnett paces the Hornets in receiving. One of the area’s top high school football athletes, Barnett has hauled in 10 receptions for 244 yards and five touchdowns.
Following Barnett, Whitaker has reeled in nine receptions for 172 yards and one touchdown.
Behind Whitaker, Brad Standifer has hauled in eight receptions for 163 yards and two touchdowns.
Eight different Magoffin County players have caught at least one pass. Aiding the Hornets’ aerial attack, Russell Cruz has reeled in one touchdown pass reception.
Defensively, Curtis Jenkins leads Magoffin County with a team-high 37 tackles. Jenkins has logged four sacks.
Following Jenkins, Lafferty has registered 33 tackles for the Hornets. Lafferty has recorded seven tackles for losses.
Magoffin County is scheduled to host Floyd Central for its home opener on Thursday, Oct. 7.
