SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County is set to host reigning 15th Region champion Paintsville for an opener in the 2021 high school volleyball season on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
Longtime rivals, Magoffin County and Paintsville will meet for a 57th District volleyball match.
The Hornets have opened preseason practice. Magoffin County returned to the court at the start of the week, following the conclusion of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Dead Period.
Head coach Haley Miller is preparing to guide Magoffin County in the 2021 high school volleyball season.
Magoffin County showed improvement in the 2020 high school volleyball season, finishing 5-11. The Hornets ended the 2020 high school volleyball regular season on a five-match winning streak.
Johnson Central Central ended Magoffin County’s 2020 season, shutting out the Hornets 3-0 (25-6, 25-15, 25-8) in the semifinals of the 57th District Volleyball Tournament on Paintsville’s home court.
In addition to Paintsville, Magoffin County has matches versus Martin County, Betsy Layne, Morgan County, June Buchanan, Johnson Central, Pike County Central, Jackson City, Menifee County and Prestonsburg scheduled in the 2021 high school volleyball season.
The 2021 high school volleyball season will open in mid-August.
