WHITT BRANCH SPUR – Police arrested two women from New York after finding them camping out on someone else’s property and believed to be trafficking in methamphetamine.
According to the arrest citations, the Magoffin County Sheriff Department received a call on April 26 regarding people reportedly trespassing on a property on Whitt Branch Spur.
When Deputies E. Salyer and C. Risner arrived on scene they talked to the property owner, who stated he did own the property and he didn’t know who was staying in a tent on his property. He also told police someone had been inside of the two old homes he owns on the land.
Inside one of the homes police found items belonging to Stacey Ann Fisk, 62, and Angie Marie Lawrence, 51, both of Owego, New York.
The property owner also gave police permission to search the tent, where law enforcement found a bag containing food, along with a black zip-up case containing a spoon, two straws and two pipes. The Magoffin County Sheriff Department also found a clear baggie containing a crystal-like substance, believed to be methamphetamine, and a blue container with a clear lid with more suspected methamphetamine. The total weight of the crystal-like substance was 4 ounces.
The two women were taken into custody and transported to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where they remain at press time, both facing the charges for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (greater than or equal to 2 grams methamphetamine) and second-degree criminal trespassing.
