JACKSON — Breaking into the win column, Magoffin County shut out Jackson City 3-0 in a non-district match on Wednesday, Sept. 6.
Prevailing on the road, Magoffin County won 25-21, 25-9, 25-18.
Alyssa Torices (4 kills, 2 blocks, 1 assist, 8 digs, 7 service aces), Maci Minix (6 digs), Abby Barnett (6 kills, 2 blocks, 5 digs, 2 service aces), Avery Preston (5 kills, 12 assists, 17 digs, 9 service aces), Allie Rodriguez (11 digs), Addison Patrick (2 kills, 7 digs, 1 service ace), Carley Allen (4 kills, 1 dig, 3 service aces), McKenzie Young (5 kills, 2 blocks, 4 digs, 4 service aces), Carlee Adams (1 assist, 17 digs) and Jaylee Reed (2 kills, 2 digs, 1 service ace) were each productive as Magoffin County claimed its first win in the 2023 high school volleyball season.
Defensively, Magoffin County limited Jackson City throughout the high school volleyball match.
Karigan Turner (1 kill, 3 assists, 1 dig, 1 service ace), Nicki Napier (3 kills, 3 digs, 1 service ace), Tara Strong (3 kills, 1 assist, 3 digs), Kaylee Lovins (1 assist, 1 dig, 1 service ace), Mae Auxier (3 kills, 1 dig, 1 service ace) and Kennedy Mullins (2 assists, 2 digs, 2 service ace) each chipped in for Jackson City during the non-district match.
Magoffin County is scheduled to host Jackson City for another non-district match on Thursday, Sept. 14.
